eight weeks later

It has been a little more than eight weeks since my last post here. A lot of things have happened but I didn't write about them at that time time because 1) I've been having a hard time writing in general for the past eight weeks; 2) I was busy with a lot of things; and 3) there were some things that I'd rather not share here. Anyway, the past eight weeks have been pretty fun and interesting. Here's quick rundown of what happened:

  • Started summer with a barbecue at Wina's house. Since I was absent from last year's annual Christmas dinner (post-duty + event + papers due the following day), I tried to make it up to them by organizing a summer barbecue. It was a great afternoon and night with lots of [carcinogenic] food and frozen margaritas.
  • My younger brother graduated from high school. Yey!
  • Annual bonding with sisses and nature. Hehe. ILY babies!
  • Pathology elective for four weeks (plus one extra day because Kooky and I were trying to be bibo haha).
  • Flat (and flatmate haha!) hunting.
  • Kind of spontaneous dinners and/or drinks with friends.
  • A college friend's wedding. Well, my friends and I became friends with him when we were in college although he already graduated even before we entered college.
  • Baking tutorials at home with friends.
  • Furniture and appliances shopping.
  • Trying to enroll (damn you annual physical exam!).
  • Moved out. Moved in.
  • Still in the process of making my room at home and our house in general seem less like a disaster zone.
I also had some learnings/realizations these past eight weeks:
  • Pathology is not for me. I like interacting with patients and I really missed this during my pathology elective because despite being in the hospital for four weeks, I didn't get to interact with patients. Also, autopsies are so freakin' disgusting. Yeah, I was able to do one (with Kooky and a resident), but no thanks, I wouldn't want to do it again. Goodbye childhood dream of becoming a forensic expert!
  • I want to work with the Child Protection Unit at PGH.
  • I'm more confused than ever as to what specialty I want to go into. ORL vs. pediatrics vs. OB-Gyne.
  • I love house music. Haha.
  • I'm crazy. I volunteered to be the liaison officer (LO) for my half-block for our neuroscience rotation. And even though I already said that I don't want to be the LO anymore for ORL, I actually said yes when they asked me if I would be willing to. Ugh. I so wanted to enjoy ORL this year!
  • You're such a geek and I think that's really interesting and cute and I really want to get to know you. If you turn out to be gay, well at least I would have a geeky gay friend and that would be so fun.
  • My friend pointed out that because my gaydar fails me each and every time, most likely I'm really straight. Haha.
  • I'm really getting old (maturing?). I drink without wanting to be wasak. I go to the department store looking for wedding and baby shower gifts. I actually follow self-imposed curfews.
  • I now know which of my friends I want to have for life.
  • It's a good thing that I decided not to make a career out of writing. I would likely end up starving.
  • According to Divasoria's The Simple Girl Index, I am a very complicated girl. Haha. As if I didn't know that yet.
  • I'm both scared and excited for clerkship.
  • And I have to finish packing NOW.
